Freedom of Speech on the Internet

The Internet is one of the best and most effective tools for people to exercise their freedoms and bring in at least awareness. However, that route is under attack especially with the recent shutting down of 73,000 blogs, read more on this here.

The issue is not about the sites that had live streaming and movies online without a copyright, but other blogs and sites that have been shutdown before and in the process. It seems that the reasons for these actions seem to be political because “Big Brother”  does not like people spreading a different message then they have. With that in mind, isn’t this a violation of our first amendment rights?

Furthermore, if such a swift position was taken currently, how will the future look? Will the criteria become more broad for more websites to be shut down simply because the authorities don’t like what is being said? Are we moving toward freedom or more surveillance and perhaps a system of fascism and communism?

I don’t need to convince anyone, it is a matter of opening our eyes and seeing what is around us.

Apparently you missed the little tidbit about the fact that this blog was posting things illegally and also more. Here is a quote: "A blogging website that was shut down suddenly last week for containing links to hit lists, bomb-making documents and Al Qaeda's new magazine "Inspire" had a lengthy history of breaking the law, but its violations were limited to copyright issues, not terrorism.

Upon learning from the FBI that the site, Blogetery.com, contained links to terrorist materials, including bomb-making instructions and an al-Qaeda "hit list," the site's host, BurstNET, decided to shut down the site's server — and the 73,671 blogs it hosted."

I am now going through a divorce… I am into self preparedness while my future ex-wife to be is not.
That's a side issue, I was hurt one day and I posted that I wish my wife would stop being such a nag on facebook.
Boom, my soon to be former stepson had to E-Mail my comment to my wife which caused more problems for me and the missus.
I still love my wife, even though we are going through a divorce… I'm still trying to consider inviting her to join myself and my teammates should we ever face a T.E.O.T.W.A.W.K.I. situation. What kind of advice could you give me?
My good for nothing stepson, whome I consider a major contributing factor in my upcoming divorce and eat excrement and expire.
