Neat, but forget the wood handle - must have an unbreakable polymer handle, possibly with a good pommel for crushing/hammering stuff.

Dont like it. NO POINT-NO KNIFE!! While the primary function may be a survival tool, the underlying truth is that it may at some point have to be used as a weapon. Therefore if it has no point it is not a proper knife. Add it to a tool kit or a chuck wagon but as far as being a feild knife, I dont like it.

gah... I need a spelling and grammar checker for web forms... The first three sentences should read:

The first time I saw this, I wanted one. I thought the digging end was a novel idea but the anvil end - for using a baton - is close to the digging end. Aside from the handle, there is no other safe place to grasp the implement, so you're either digging with a long-ish implement held in one hand from the far end, or digging with very small removal of material per 'stroke' and poor leverage. The main advantage it has over a machete is reduced guilt over ruining an edge near the tip.

The first time I saw this, I wanetd one, but them I noticed the digging end was a novel idea but the anvil end - for using a baton - is close to the digging end. The only thing is has over a machete is reduced guilt over ruining an edge near the tip. I use the $20 combination of a plain old 12" Ontario machete (for lack of the golok I too cheap to buy) and a small but sturdy folding "e-tool"-ish shovel in my pack.
