That is so true Food Insurance. I found great things to help and add to my food storage and my emergency survival kits at yard sales, I even found things to add to my kids individual emergency kit too. Yards sales, discount store like Salvation Army has great stuff to help grow your emergency kits.

The other day I ran across a yard sale where they were selling their extra emergency water storage containers for dirt cheap. Unfortunately someone beat me to them who was going to use them to go on their family adventures out to the desert. That brought up a good point. It's a good idea to have an emergency water supply at home as well as on your vacation (especially if it's in the desert). Just make sure the kids know they can't have a water fight with it.
