this was a pretty good piece, but it is old. I have been in this game since the early 80s. Most people do get frantic and rush around and try to buy a ton of stuff at once and then……..NOTHING HAPPENS. That doesnt mean you should not be prepared, it means you should od so moore intelligently. When certain political issues arise or other pre-incident indicators, I beef up a little and update my gear as needed etc. When things are good, I relax a little and do a little less. Diligence is where its at, remember security is never an end state it is ever evolving and dynamic. This applies to ALL security issues large and small. Train, prepare, store and rotate your stores as needed and when things get bad you will be safer and more comfortable and may even be able to help others. Do nothing, you will either be a victim or a casualty. Prepare for the WORST and you can back off of that if it becomes overkill, but to do too little is at your own peral, it always better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. BUY MORE AMMO(that is my montra and this time folks you r gonna need it)

  2. This is a classic piece, but it always depresses me. The way the reporter laughs it off at the end… it has that sick, nervous quality. I guess that people don't get the idea that preparedness removes fear and worry.

    • Yeah that's kind of a sad commentary on society at large, preparedness generally is associated with "survivalism" which instantly conjures up images of someone bomb making nut living in the remote wilderness. It's bad people will write off common sense preparations so easily.
